Head of Credit

 

Job Purpose

To lead credit, to ensure the acquisition of quality assets and maintenance there of within laid down policies of Nedbank Eswatini through a team of Credit Managers.To ensure sustainability and profitability for Nedbank by providing oversight of credit acquisition in order to achieve Nedbank's strategic objectives.

Chief Risk Officer; Sales Personnel (Head of Retail, Head of Corporate and Chief Risk Officer; Sales Personnel (Head of Retail, Head of Corporate and Business Banking, Business Managers, SME & Institutional Bankers, ABF Specialist, Retail Bankers); Africa Credit; AFCRAM; Credit Function Staff; Clients; Credit Risk Function/Special Portfolio; Broker Finance; Legal; Operational Risk; Credit Administration, Collections

OUTPUT 1

KEY ACTIVITIES

HEAD OF CREDIT MANAGEMENT CAPACITY

  • Ensure and monitor policy compliance
  • Give input to ensure appropriate mandates are allocated to positions/people
  • Manage the quality of CMIS
  • Presentations to AFCRAM & DCC
  • Audit credit decisions made by Credit Manager up their mandate
  • Analyse and investigate high risk accounts

  • Implement specific projects and strategy or policy changes (Credit Policy, BASEL II, RAROC)

CREDIT REPORTS

  • Prepare credit reports (not exhaustive):
    • Divisional Credit Committee report
    • Excess reports
    • Board Loan Review Papers
    • Basel

OUTPUT 4

KEY ACTIVITIES

ONGOING CREDIT RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Bi-monthly review of Credit Manager’s full portfolio of reports
  • Review daily excess reports
  • Identify early warning signals in client behaviour, industry or markets that are indicative of change in risk profile
  • Ensure appropriate action are taken on early warning signals to mitigate risks
  • Refer/handover client to credit risk
  • Manage MIS exceptions (e.g. annual or interim reviews, AFS and debtor list)
  • Manage covenants (financial and non-financial)

Qualifications and experience

  • BSc. Mathematical Statistics/Financial Mathematics
  • BSc Actuarial Science
  • B. Com Econometrics                                                               
  • B. Com Accounting
  • 5-10 years Senior Management experience in the
  • Credit, Retail and Treasury space is desired.
